General One of Atlanta's loveliest neighborhoods, Grant Park is best known for its historic buildings and opportunities for walking in a singularly beautiful environment. The area was founded by Atlanta's "Father" Lemuel P. Grant, a civil engineer for the railroad 125 years ago. Though in modern times the neighborhood was threatened by industrialization, measures have been taken to preserve the distinctive architecture and green space. The peaceful community remains a slower counterpoint to main Atlanta's rush and bustle.

Education The Grant Park area has a number of schools with unique opportunities for students. For example, Imagine Wesley International Academy is a tuition-free environment where students learn Mandarin along with their regular lessons. Other schools in the are also specialize in religious orientation, enriched education, or make use of Montessori methodology. These uncommon opportunities make for a diverse and child-friendly neighborhood. For post-secondary education, Atlanta is full of universities and colleges, including Georgia State, the Art Institute of Atlanta, Georgia Medical Institute, Beulah Heights Bible College, Morehouse College, and Emory University.
Recreation By far the most popular attraction in Grant Park is Zoo Atlanta---founded by the same L.P. Grant who started the neighborhood. This zoo is internationally recognized as a haven for rare animals species and currently features a rare giant panda habitat until 2009. The zoo has several theme park rides for children, walking paths, and additional educational opportunities. Another well-known feature of Grant Park is simply the park itself. Laced with walking paths and flower gardens, the park's focus is providing a peaceful green space for residents to enjoy Atlanta's mild weather.
